The News Access Tape is there to support the launch of the Pakistan report “Will I be next?” which examines in detail nine of the 46 U.S. drone strikes that took place in North Waziristan in north western Pakistan between January 2012 and June 2013. This region has seen the vast majority of Pakistan’s drone strikes.The News Access Tape focuses on two cases which pose serious questions about violations of international law which could amount to amount to war crimes. The first involves Mamana Bibi, a 68-year old grandmother who was killed by a hellfire missile in October 2012 in front of her grandchildren while picking vegetables in the family fields. The second case examines the killing of 18 labourers, including a 14-year old boy, who were struck by multiple strikes when they were drinking tea after a day’s work.
