Descriptive

Title: Malala Artwork New Zealand
Description: Malala Yousafzai was the inspiration for this mural painted by Auckland school student Nardos Tilahun, along with 12 of her classmates from Auckland Girls' Grammar School in November 2013. The school's human rights group ran a mural competition to tie in with Amnesty International's Freedom Challenge campaign about using street art to campaign for Women's Rights. The students also wanted to celebrate the efforts of Malala Youfsazai. The artwork won a Resene Mural Masterpieces competition. Nardos said: "We wanted the image to show Malala as she is leading the movement for women's education."
