Ales Bialiatski, chairman of Belarusian Human Rights Center, 'Viasna' (Spring), was released on amnesty on 21 June 2014, after having spent almost 3 years in prison.
During his nearly three years in prison, Ales received almost 40,000 letters, including many from Amnesty supporters.
His case was recently the focus of an Amnesty International campaign. This photograph shows him holding a placard which reads - Your Signature Helps!
