|Title:||Protest against mass statelessness in the Dominican Republic|
Hundreds of people protest in front of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic on 23 September 2016 to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of judgement 168-13 and to denounce statelessness in the country.
The demonstration was also part of a series of activity to mark the delivery to the Dominican government of Amnesty International's global petition against statelessness in the Dominican Republic (see: https://goo.gl/67QFT9).
In September 2013, judgement 168-13 retroactively and arbitrarily deprived tens of thousands of people of their Dominican nationality. The vast majority of the victims are Dominicans of Haitian descent who for many of them were rendered stateless by this decision.
