|Description:||This image is Nicolasa (she/her) in Tijuana, Mexico. She volunteers at a new (April 2019) shelter for LGBTI migrants. She and her girlfriend have both been harassed by US authorities for their human rights work: Nicolasa was denied a visa to the US for the first time in her life, so she is unable to visit her sister with cancer. |
The North America IS team carried out a mission to the US/Mexico border to observe and interview migrants who have been forced to wait in Mexico before their asylum claims in the US or heard or throughout the duration of their asylum claim as dictated by Trump's recent "Migrant Protection Protocol" policy.
